When looking for a nursing scholarship, you may want to check with other nursing schools other than your choice school so that you can be better able to compare which college can provide you the best funding possible. In some cases, there are schools that will only provide you information about nursing scholarships only after you have been accepted into the school.

Colleges may also vary when setting the criteria for eligibility but would generally fall on the following parameters such as that you should be seeking admission to advanced studies or the first year in nursing and have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. You may also even be required to submit an essay, which the scholarship sponsor may use to evaluate your application.

Other than looking for nursing scholarships in schools, you may also want to check with non-profit organizations and other private companies for available scholarship programs. Another great option when searching for a nursing scholarship is to contact different nursing organizations such as the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). The American Nurses Association is a well-known professional body for nurses in the US, which continually pushes the interests of nurses in different levels. On the other hand, the National Student Nurses Association represents nursing students, whether in the Associate Nursing degree program or Doctorate degree. Both these organizations have nursing scholarships available for eligible students. Other organizations you might want to check out for nursing scholarships include the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, International Council of Nurses, National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International as well as other specialty nursing organizations.
