Work Study Programs

Hi, when our children begin to make decisions about their future we as parents become concerned. We want what is best for them. It is not easy to decide which University to go to and which one is best suited for your son or daughter. My son and I spent many hours together trying to figure out just that. In the end I believe with all my heart that he made the right decision.

Their are many Universities out there and picking the right one is difficult. One thing was certain that my son wanted to study Mechanical Engineering. He had to decide between two Universities. One of them offered him strictly theory and the other one offered him theory and work experience. In a world as competitive as our own I knew that theory alone would not open the doors to my son and prepare him for the corporate world. I told him that it would work to his advantage if he would choose what is called the Co-op Program. This prgram is especially designed for
students who want to study and work at the same time. Not only do they acquire the knowledge they need but they also gain work experience. They are placed on the job market with reputable companies by the University. They call this their work term followed by another school semester. They repeat this sequence for a total of four years. After completing his first work term at Dassault Systems Aviation, my son decided he would like to major in the Designing aspect of Mechanical Engineering. He now has a very impressionable resume which he can forward to companies once he has finished University. Without a doubt he will find employment in his field of study.

I strongly recommend the work and study program to all students and especially to parents who are in the process of making a decision with their kids. These work study programs are available in all programs of study such as Commerce, Computer Science and so on. The decisions of today make the future of tomorrow for our children, don't you think so?

being active with your son is a good thing but you cannot pick everything for him he does need to learn how to make his own decisions as well and you need to accept that.
