Sign Language- a tutorial.
Ever wanted to learn a second language, but decided that it was just "too hard!" or you didn't have time? Well let me show you how you can very simply and easily learn the art of Sign Language.
Sign Lanuage is described as "the art of learning how to communicate with deaf people." For they [deaf people] are human being just like us. And so they love to talk, or communicate. When you get into your profession, you may notice that you come in contact with deaf people quite regularly, that may or may not have an interpreter. And so why not learn for yourself?
The first step to learning the art of Sign Language is to find a trustworthy and acceptable teaching site. I would recoment aslpro.com. This site has a Standard American Sign Language Dictionary that has quite a few everyday words in it. It will also play the sign language sign in a video so that you may see how it done.
The second
step is to practice what you have learned. For I have learned over the years of learning this art, that if you don't use the words you learn, you lose it quite easily. And so while you are going about your day, randomly do signs to refresh your memory.
Third step- Do it to music! Yes, pick out your favorite song and print the lyrics out off of your computer. Then slowly learn all the words in sign language (you don't have to sign, "and, the, it, and such). So that you may practice your sign language to your favorite song, which makes it worthwhile.
The fourth and last step is to do it from your heart. Sign Language has a beauty of its own. The possiblilities are endless when you learn this art. When you sign from your heart, people aren't necessarily watching you, they are watching you heart being displayed through the movements of your hands.
Sign Language is very easy to learn, if you do it for the right reasons. :)
Thanks, Little J.
