Make a Difference in Many Lives Daily: Become an EMT

If you are looking for a new career, something that will make a bigger difference and is more helpful to your fellow human beings, consider becoming an emergency medical technician. EMT's are the ones who take care of people in need as they head from the site of an accident or emergency on the way to the hospital for treatment. EMT's help keep people stable before a doctor or medical staff can attend to them.

Over a period of fourteen days, Unitek College offers an emergency medical technician course in a boot camp style. Each day of classes is around twelve hours in length (the course starts at 8am and ends at 8pm for fourteen days in a row) and is taught by several experts, considered by many to be the best in their field. By the end of the course, all students will have had at least 10 hours of actual ambulance experience -- no simulations, just real ambulance experience. Students will learn the basics of ambulance care and w
ill walk away prepared to meet the requirements of any facility that employs EMT's such as hospitals and fire departments.

Unitek College offers five certifications in their emergency medical technician course: CPR (a certification required for an EMT-B license that stays in place for two years), glucometer (drawing blood and reading blood sugar levels of patients), IV maintenance (how to take care of patients already fitted with an IV), advanced airway (learning how to insert a breathing tube when necessary and what to do if the intubation fails), and a course completion certificate which is required to take the EMT licensing exam. Unitek College also pays the fees for the licensing exam, even if you don't pass it the first time. During the 14-day boot camp, EMT's-in-training are given the option to stay at a local hotel in double- or single-occupancy rooms, with catered meals included. Students traveling to take the course can apply for discounts for plane tickets, though restrictions do apply.
