the melting point of wax can be determined by drawing a cooling curve.we cn perform an expriment for determining the melting point of wax.

first take some sufficient wax in a hard test tube.close it with one holed cork.insert a thermometre through the hole such that the bulb of the thermometre is inside the wax. the test tube is heated by constant temperature wter bath.

wax starts melting and the temperature begins to raise.heat the wax till it melts completly and attains a constant value.now stop heating and allow it to cool. now wait for some time approx. 1 to 3 hours or 30 to 50 minutes.

the fall of temperature is noted every half an hour till it reaches the solid state,

draw a graph taking the time along with the X-axis and temperature along Y-axis.

the curved obtained is called cooling curve.

now you have found out the melting point of wax.
