DMV, State and Court Certified Online Driving School Courses
It used to be that students needed to find a schedule of traffic school classes in their local area, which may or may not have been truly convenient to where they lived. They needed to rearrange other plans they had during the times when the classes were available, and find the classroom and spend the day listening to an instructor. Courses were only as good as the instructor, and you were rolling the dice every time you went into a classroom that you would get someone who was enthusiastic about driving safety and not someone who was of the “those who can’t, teach” mentality.
The development of online driving school courses is totally different. They are often created by courseware designers who specialize in developing a class that is specifically meant for online delivery. These classes are therefore more likely to be engaging and interesting for the target audience. Schools work not only with the legal requirements of the state or region to determine what content should go in the course, but they also confer with experts in the area of driving safety to ensure that the conventional wisdom is covered within the course.
The overall “rules” for defensive driving sometimes change over time, particularly as technology changes. For example, the subject of mobile phones would not even exist in a 20-year-old course in driver safety, and power steering and power brakes would likely be described as luxury options. It is important for any driver improvement school to keep up to date with what is happening in the world of driving safety and make sure that the course material is also updated to match what is currently going on, not just regurgitate the same old material that has appeared on mimeographed handouts for decades.
That’s another advantage to the online method. You know exactly what you’re getting, and you know that the other students who are taking driver safety classes through the same provider are getting the same experience as well. All the wisdom of several instructors gets pulled together, tested and retested, and the resulting course you see over the web is going to be far superior in quality to what you might find in a classroom. After all, on the web, you’re not going to catch an instructor “on a bad day” and have a terrible experience because of it. In a live classroom setting, you are at the mercy of your instructor’s competence and mood, but online you receive the last version of a class that has been revised over and over again to be the best it can be. This is just one of the countless advantages of which we’re fortunate enough to partake.
